    One of the founding fathers of the USA. Adams help organize a rebllion against the Soamp Act,he helped organize the Boton Tea Party. He was govener of Boston from 1794-1797.He was 2nd cousin to President Jon Adams.
  • Martha Custis Washington

    Wife of George Washington, widowed at 25 had 4 children before she married G.W., only 2 survived She was very wealthy. She and George Washington did not have Children.
  • George Washington

    Born Feb. 22, 1732 First President of tthe United States. Comander in Chief of the continental army during the revolutinary war, helped draft the United States Constitution.
  • Paul Revere

    Most Famous for alerting the colonial milita of the approch of the British forces before the battles of lexington and concord. He dressed up as an Indian to dump tea into the Boston Harbor during the Boston Tea Party.

    John was the second Presidant of the United States Of America. and the 2nd Vice President. He was very educated promoted strong central government. He married Abigail Smith, his third cousin. They had six children, Abigail (1765), John Quincy (1767), Susanna (1768), Charles (1770), Thomas Boylston (1772) and Elizabeth (1777).'
  • Thomas Paine

    Born 2/9/1737, immigrated to the American Colonies in 1774. Political activist, Author of two highly influential pamphlets at the start of the American Revolution to inspire Patroits to declare Independence from Britian.

    A general during the American Revolutionary War, originally fought for the American Continental Army but defected to the British Army.

It ensured British culture and laws applied to first nations in Canada to attract British settlers & is still important .

  • Stamp Act

    British Parliment imposed a direct tax on British America. It required any printed materials in the colonies be done on stamped paper produced in London, it had an empossed Revenue stamp.It had to be paid in British currency instead of colonial. purpose to help pay for troops stationed in North America after 7year war. Very unpopular with colonists. Believed it violated there rights as to be taxed without consent. Protests were started by the sons of liberty and often turned violent.
  • Quartering Act

    The Quarting Act was the Act that after all trops were to be let off their ships the colonist had to pay to govermint to let the troops stay in housing like " in inns, livery stables, ale houses, victualing houses, and the houses of sellers of wine and houses of persons selling of rum, brandy, strong water, cider or metheglin.'
  • Townshend Act

    The Townshend Act of 1767was a act to raise revenue in the colonies. colonist had to pay salaries so that Judges and other Government officles could get payed so they would be independent of colonial rule. They did This mainly for the purpose of "enforcing trade regulations".
  • Boston Massacure

    Know as the Incident on King Street. The British army killed male colonial ciivllians because they were being taunted. This heightened tensiion in the 13 colonies.
  • Sons of Liberty

    Organization fo American Patriots that started in the North American British Colonies to protect the rights of colonists and fight against abuses of the British Government. Best know for the Boston Tea party.
  • Boston Tea Party

    a nonviolent protest by the sons of liberty. disguised as Indians they destroyed on ships sent by the India tea company to boycott a tea tax the Americans did not agree to. "No taxation without representation". They threw all the tea into the Boston Harbor. The British Gov. responded harshly which fuled the Americn Revolution.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Also called the Coercive Acts a Patriot name for punitive laws passed by British Parliment after the Boston Tea Party. It took away rights of self-government and caused outrage & resistance in the 13 colonies. 4 of the acts were in response to the Boston Tea Party. They formed the First Continental Congress to start a protest. This was key in starting the Revolutionary War.

    56 members of the 12 colonies (did not include the province of Georgia). They met on Sept. 5th, 1774 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvaina. They met in response to the Intolerable Acts.

  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    Lexington and Concord were the first battles of the American Revolutionary Wars. Fought on April 19th in Lexington, Concord, Lincoln, Arlington and Cambridge. The battle marked the first armed conflict between Greagt Britian and the 13 colonies. The colonie milita found out that the english minutemen were coming to destroy their military supplies the Patriots found out before and moved the supplies. This started the seige of Boston and is know as the Shot heard around the world.

  • Battle Of Saratoga

    Fought Sept. 19 & Oct 7,1777. 2 battles fought 18 days apart in the same place. It forced British General Burgoyne's Army to retreat forcing him to surrender on Oct 17th. It helped bring France and Spain to the war as an american ally. I

    Was one of the most battles of the Revolutionary war. France and the Colonist lead by Geiorge Washington fought the Britsh army which lead to victory.It was the last major land battle. The british began to negotiate to end the conflict.

    Hessian means soldier in German. They were soliders also known as mercenaries contracted by the British Empire to fight against the 13 colonies in the American Revolutionary War.
