    Women of the working classes would usually be expected to go out to work,often in the mills or mines.
    In the 19th century there was no restriction on the age of workers, this led to children as young 8 or 9 being required to work 12 or more hours a day.

    Working conditions were often unsanitary and the works was dangerous.
    If they got injured in the mills they would lose their jobs.

    The Klondike Gold Rush

    The Klondike gold rush was a migration by an estimated 100,000 set out only 30,000 arrived to the Klondike region of the yukon in the north western Canada between 1896 and 1899. Around 4,000 found gold. Many gave up to due to the difficulties of the journey and returned home some were not able to survive the extreme temperatures and died. The greatest economic impact prospectors passed through settlements and the money from supplies they purchased boosted the economy considerably.
