Each institution that made up the Athenian Government is kind of like the US government today. The Ekklesia is like the US Congress because the Ekklesia wrote laws just like the Congress writes laws for the US today. The Boule is like the House of Representatives. The Dikasteria is like the Dep. of Defence because both of them had to handle the military.

Both governments have a separation of power. The Romans had a magistrate, tribune, and assemblies like the US has the President, Congress, and Federal Court.

Some of Hobbes’s Ideas were the Social Contract and the State of Nature. The US Government agreed with Hobbes because the US Constitution took the idea of limited government into account. The one thing that they didn’t agree on is Hobbes's power to the Sovereign. The reason is that the president doesn’t have full power over the United States. https://stock.adobe.com/search?k=%22thomas+hobbes%22&asset_id=609299089 -
Ordinary people in a social contract in order to get protection, they had to give up their rights. According to Locke people could give up their rights right when they were born since they were born with rights. This influenced the U.S. Government because the Declaration of Independnce states that the United States would secure the rights of each individual. This makes the Declaration of Independence basically a Social Contract. -
The reason that the United States Government has the three branches of Government is because of Baron de Montesquieu. The reason this is that Montesquieu believed that there should be a separation of power so that no one has more power over another. This is reflected by the Judicial branch handling the court the legislative reviews the laws, and the executive branch makes the laws. That is why the US government has 3 branches of Government today. -
In Blackstone’s opinion, the laws of a country were meant to protect/maintain while also regulating the absolute rights of each individual. He also stated that the principal aim of society is to protect the enjoyment of absolute rights. I see the idea of maintaining and protecting absolute rights in the United States Government. I see that because they are protecting our rights which also includes our freedom of speech and being able to vote. -
The Declaration of Independence basically states what the King of Britain has done to “destroy the U.S.” and basically what the US ended up doing to become their own country and be free from the grasp of the King of Britain. I would see the United State’s Mission statement today as an achievement. I see it as an achievement because the US basically did everything they said they would to end up separating from England and the King. -
The three major changes that weren't in the Articles of Confederation that are now in the Constitution are the Legislative, judicial, and Executive branches. The power of the three branches allowed one branch of government not to hold all the power. Also under the Articles, there was only one system of government. -
The reason the 13th Amendment was removed ended up improving the US because it stated that “abolished slavery and provided representation would be determined according to the whole # of persons in each of the 13 colonies, not by the “⅗’s” of slaves. Since Indians are taxed they are now counted for purposes of appointment.” The reason deleting this amendment improved the U.S. was because slaves(didn’t have any sort of voice in what was wrong and how the country should handle it going forward. -
Washington was a primary diplomat to all nations he welcomed envoys from Spain, France, & Great Britain, while also welcoming Native Americans from different tribes. During his presidency, there were uncertainties about the army of the US during that time. VP J. Adams was so invested in the matter that he made his own official titles for George Washington. Once his term was up, the people thought he did such a great job they wanted him to serve another term. This started the "2-term limit". -
I think the most important part of the First Amendment is the freedom of speech section. The reason this is is because, that makes citizens freely express their open opinions on what they think is right and what is wrong. By removing the Freedom of Speech section from the First Amendment, citizens wouldn’t have any voice about what they think is right and how they would handle it. -
Thomas Jefferson helped establish the Federalist Party. Jefferson ended up opposing the Republican Party. The reason is that the Republican Party argued that the Federalists had harboristic aristocratic attitudes, while also saying that they held too much power. One of the major disagreements was on the topic of Foreign Policies. The Federalist Party's core beliefs revolved around the ideals of the French Revolution. The Republican Party’s core beliefs were to emphasize local humanitarianism -
He believed the Constitution offered a proper structure of the Union and, therefore, held a Republican Remedy for the diseases most incident to Republican Government. Madison said that Republicans don’t require every citizen to get together to solve every problem, republicans can cover much more land with many more than the Democrats can. That is the reason factions aren't as dangerous in republics then they are in democracies. Factions aren't based on the majority or minority of citizens.
