Rainsford is on a yacht sailing through the Caribbean. As there sailing past the mystery island Rainsford hears a gun shot coming from the island and falls over board while trying to catch his pipe. Rainsford swims to the islands shore and finds a place on the rocks to sleep.

Rainsford woke up hungry that next afternoon and went searching hoping to find people on the island. As he was exploring he came across the chateau. He knocks on the door where the 'giant' Ivan answers the door. General zarrof opens the door and welcomes him inside for dinner.

After Rainsford notices all the animal heads on the dining room walls he asks the General about them. The general explains that he hunts a lot but that he got bored of hunting animals so he created his own dangerous game with the animal he's invented. Rainsford later realises that the general hunts humans.

After the general explains the game Rainsford asks to leave the island at once, But the general doesn't allow that, anyone who comes on the island is given two choices. Either play the game or be dealt with by Ivan. Rainsford decides that he'll play the game in hopes that he'll win and be able to leave the island.

The General gives Rainsford a head start. Rainsford makes fake trails in hopes to lead the general in the wrong way. He then climbs up a tree to hide. The next day Rainsford made a Malay man catcher to try and trap the general, But the general sensed his danger and stepped back before the catcher could trap him.

Rainsford is by the swamp and nearly gets himself trapped in the quick sand. He decides to dig a hole and cover it with bush so that the general will fall right into the hole. It doesn't capture the general but one of the generals dogs falls into the holes and dies.

The next day Rainsford sets up another trap to hopefully injure the General. He ties string from two trees going across the path and ties his knife to the string so that the people on the path would walk straight into it and get stabbed. Which is exactly what happened to the giant Ivan.

Rainsford ran to the beach and jumped off the cliff into the water and swam all the way around the island to the chateau. The general thought that Rainsford had just jumped in the water as a way to show his defeat, so he made his way back to the house for dinner. Little did he know that Rainsford was waiting for the general in his room. The general congratulates him and tells him he's won the game.
