His parents Theodorus van Gogh and Anna Cornelia Carbentus welcomed him into the world in Groot-Zundert, Netherland. He is the eldest out of his 5 siblings.

Vincent's parents gave birth to their second child and his first brother.

Around this time he met streetwalker, Sien. He began to fell in love with her and was willing to take care of her two children but his father disapproved of this. Vincent made paintings inspired by her and using her as a model. In late 1883 he left Sien and her children.

HIs father died of a heart attack.

After cutting off his ear his brother, Theo took him to the hospital for treatment in December 23, 1888. On January 7, 1889 he was released.

He voluntarily entered himself into an insane asylum. This is where he painted Starry Night.

He sold his painting "Red Vineyards" for 400 francs. This painting ended up being the only painting Vincent sold in his lifetime.

He shot himself with a 7mm gun and was rushed to a hospital.

After his gun wound he died in a hospital in Auvers-sur-Oise with Theo by his side.
