    Attack on Pearl Harbor On December 7th, 1941, hundreds of Japanese fighter planes launched a surprise military strike on Hawaii territory. The attack on Pearl Harbor was conducted by the Imperial Japanese Navy, against the United States Naval Base. The onslaught lasted for two hours, though in that short amount of time the Japanese managed to kill 1,177 sailors and marines, wound 1000 others, and destroy 21 naval ships.

    Bombing of Hiroshima And Nagasaki During the end of World War II, Harry Truman agreed to the use of an atomic bomb, to attack Hiroshima, a city in Japan. This resulted in an American B-29 bomber, dropping the world’s first certified atomic bomb, and three days later another B-29 dropped a bomb on Nagasaki, another city in Japan. The two bombings killed at least 129,000 people, wiping out 90% of both cities.

He debuted at first base, playing for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Jackie ended racial segregation in baseball that has affected African Americans for over six decades. Eventually, Jackie was named Rookie of the Year, National League MVP, and a World Series champion.

    Dick Button From February 14 to 25, the 1952 Winter Olympics took place in Oslo, Norway. Hundreds of countries all over the world participated in the event. Dick Button, a U.S figure skater, made Olympics history, by becoming the first person ever to perform a triple jump.

    Korean Armistice Agreement The Korean War, lasted for three years, up until the summer of 1953 when the Korean Armistice Agreement was signed, calling for a cease fire. The armistice was signed by William Harrison Jr, representing the United Nations Command, and Nam II, representing North Korea and China. The Korean Armistice Agreement successfully ended the Korean War, as they sent troops back home, and released captive prisoners.

Colored televisions have been a work in progress for years now, up until the FCC gave NBC permission to show America’s first colored T.V shows. In fact, NBC even used an image of a cartoon colored peacock, to promote the use of colored broadcasts.

    Rosa Parks After being told to leave the bus so a white person could sit in her seat, Rosa Parks, refused to stand up, remaining seated until she was eventually arrested. This action sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott, a protest in which African Americans didn’t ride the bus for years, until the companies eventually went out of business. As time passed, it was declared that segregated busing was unconstitutional.

    I Have A Dream Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, a civil rights leader that rose to prominence during the Montgomery Bus Boycott, delivered his infamous “I Have A Dream” speech, during a march in Washington D.C. Over 200,000 people marched for their rights, and those same 200,000 people, plus many more, were inspired by King’s speech, as he changed the world of civil rights, one word at a time.

    Beatlemania After the release of their hit single “I Want To Hold Your Hand”, Beatlemania, a fan frenzy over the Liverpool, four piece band, The Beatles, sweeps the U.S by storm. “I Want To Hold Your Hand” becomes the band’s first North American hit, reaching #1 on Billboard’s Top 100. The single also triggered the start of the British invasion, a time in which music acts from the UK became popular in the U.S.
