A group of Sourthern rebels attempted to storm the White House. Goerge E. Meade found and stopped them with his troops.

Lincoln gave a speech on the battlefield of the Battle of Gettysburg. The speech commemorated a new cemetery and gave reasons for Lincoln to continue the war.

Lincoln pardons all Southern rebels who took an oath of loyalty to the USA.

The Thirteenth Amendment is sent for ratification. This amendment calls for all slaves to be freed and for slavery to be abolished.

Abe and his wife were watching a play when John Wilkes Booth shot Abraham in the back of the head. John jumped out of the box seat and ran away, shouting dramatically.

The morning after he was shot, Abe died from the head wound. His vice president, Andrew Jackson, becomes the 17th president.

Congress ratifies the Thirteenth Amendment and slavery is abolished.
