    Colby was born in Columbus, GA and was raised by a baseball family.

    Colby's little league team, "Phenix City" won the United States championship which gave them a qualification to the Little League World Series! They entered and then beacame "South" because thats their region... They did later lost to "Japan" in the Little League World Series championship, and Rasmus finished the tourney with an batting average of .417!
  • High School

    Rasmus attended Russell County High School in Seale, AL. But as a Senior he batted an average of .484 with 24 home runs with 66 RBI and 69 runs scored in 39 games. His 24 home runs passed "Bo Jackson" for second all-time in the state for home runs in a season by a high school player.

    Colby was drafted out of high school by the "St. Louis Cardinals" with the 28th pick of the 2005 Major League Baseball Draft. He recieved a $1,000,000 signing bonus from the Cardinals! Rasmus ended his 2006 season, his second in professional baseball, on the High-A Palm Beach Cardinals team. Between Low-A Quad Cities and High-A Palm Beach, he combined for a .288 average, 16 home runs, 26 doubles. Through 07-08 the St. Louis Cardinals' scouts, started noticing him.
  • Major Leagues

    On January 23, 2009 Colby Rasmus was selected to the cardinals 40-man roster and was in the starting line-ups for the opening spring training games! Then on April 3, 2009 he was opening- day starting line-up because of his hard work in spring training. He made his major-league debut on April 7 against Pittsburgh at Busch Stadium. He earned his first major league hit in his second career at-bat, on a single to right field off Pittsburgh's Ian Snell. He went 2-for-4 in the game, with two runs!

    On May 2, 2009 Colby hit his first career Home Run in the "MLB"! Then on June 19, 2009 Colby also had his first four-hit game. Meanwhile after that Colby hit his first walk-off Home Run with a WIN vs the San Francisco Giants!

    I guess the TALK was not a rumor and I guess it was true. On July 27, 2011 Rasmus was traded to the "Toronto Blue Jays" organization... Then after the trade, he signed a one-year contract/deal worth $4.675 million! After '09 he signed a bigger contract deal for 2 yrs. He still is present in Toronto. He is in the best shape of his life where he's at now... Sadly on August 14, 2013 he was sent to the disabled list (DL) for the first time in his career because of an oblique strain.
