"In 1933, the year Baba was born..", Ali was also introduced and brought up into Baba's "wealthy and reputable" Pashtun family after his parents were struck and killed by two drunk drivers. -
Baba builds orphanages
When Amir was a younger child during, "the late 1960s...Baba decided to build an orphanage." This relates to how Baba expresses his will and power to provide for others, since he can't directly do it for his secretly known son, Hassan. -
Amir's own stories
"One day, in July 1973.." when Amir was reading from a book to Hassan, Amir had began to wonder from the book and tell his own stories. As Amir reads his made-up story to Hassan, he finds Hassan drawn and appreciative to Amir's great story. This results to Hassan sharing his gratitude to Amir's story and Amir "hug[ing] and planted[ing] a kiss on his [Hassan's] cheek." revealing their great relationship towards each other when they were children, no matter the difference in social economic class. -
Hassan's birthday gift
In the "winter of 1974.." it was the time of Hassan's birthday, and instead of a toy or entertaining accessory, Baba had paid for a surgeon to fix Hassan's cleft lip. The author reveals how Baba cares for Hassan, even if he is his servant, and goes to the extremes of paying for a surgery to fix Hassan's lip, even though it's not that important for Baba to do so for a Hazara. -
Amir turns 12 years old
In the beginning of the story Amir "became...the age of twelve..in the winter of 1975. (1)" Amir opens the book by recalling back to when he turned twelve-years-old, and states aa little bit of his life with Hassan. -
New servants?
During the winter of 1975 and after the kite tournament, Amir had gone through a conflict of jealousy towards Hassan had asked Baba an irregular question, "..have you ever thought about getting new servants?" and Baba snapping and roaring back to Amir, "Hassan's not going anywhere, do you understand?" This demonstrates how Baba is defensive of keeping Hassan and Ali under their roof and never wanting them to leave because of an unspoken bond he has shared with Ali and Hassan being his son. -
The Death of the old Afghanistan
During "December 1979.. Russian tanks would roll into the very same streets where Hassan and I played, bringing the death of the Afghanistan I knew.." This reveals the beginning and new era that Afghanistan was becoming because of a conflict in the setting going on with Afghanistan and Russia. -
Settled in America
Baba and Amir have now moved to San Fransisco. With Baba loving "the idea o America. It was living in American that gave him an ulcer." -
Leaving Kabul
In the directory and charge of the Russian Soveits in "March 1981", Baba and Amir had "left Kabul" and were soon going on their way to leave Afghanistan to San Fransisco where they'd begin their new life, also with Amir at the age of eighteen now. -
Amir graduates from high school
While in America in San Fransisco, during the "summer of 1983, I [Amir] graduated from high school at the age of twenty.." -
Baba and Amir starting a better bond
During the following summer in "1984..Baba sold his Buick and bought.. an old Afghan.. bus." Baba and Amir seemed to have joyous times in the bus as they "laughed until tears rolled down our [their] cheeks.." revealing them having a better relationship and stronger bond, now that they live in America together with just the two of them. -
Starting a relationship with Soraya
During the late ending quarter of May 1985, Amir starts to have the guts to talk to Soraya after stopping by to pay respects to her and her father. -
Amir can't have a child
During "...the summer of that following year, [in]1989.." had "became a minor celebrity in the Afghan community" after his success of releasing his first novel. Things seemed to be going well, until they went to check up on why Soraya hadn't been pregnant in the capcity of they 4 years in marrigage, until their doctor had "used the word 'adoption' for the first time.." This was resulting Amir having a feritily issue and having the inability to have children. -
Rahim Khan is sick
In the month of "June [in] 2001" iturns out that "Rahim Khan is very sick" and Amir has to return to Afghanistan to visit him. -
Hassan can ride a kite
"In the winter of 1975.." Amir had seen Hassan's hidden talent and skill for riding kites for the first time. This was something that Amir was envious towards Hassan about, because kite riding was an aspect of which Baba enjoyed when he was a child, but not something he was proud of to see Amir not capable of doing.
