  • Beginning of LIfe

    Beginning of LIfe
Richard Pierpoint was born on November 5th in 1744 Bondu Senegambia of West Africa. He was raised mostly by his mom because his dad wasn’t really in the picture. His dad was captured and killed. I chose this picture because it shows a mom cuddling her baby in her arms.
  • Richard's Life Takes a Turn

    Richard's Life Takes a Turn
At the age of 16 in the eleventh grade, he was captured in a slavery conflict. Later on he was sold to the Europeans, owned by the Royal African Company. They took Richard’s home, family, his roots and his name. I chose this picture because it shows how the slaves would travel across the ocean.
  • World war one

    World war one
World War one started. Richard had earned his freedom by enlisting to fight the Americans for King George. I chose this picture because it shows an African American getting ready to fight in the war. There were over 35 million civilian and soldier in the war. I chose this picture because it represents an African American showing pride and fighting for what’s right in life.
  • A Starting of a New Life

A Starting of a New Life
20 years after the war ended, Richard left the war and started farming. At first it was difficult to farm but as the months went by it got pretty easy. I chose this picture because it represents an African American sitting on a farm and by the picture you could tell he was tired from farming.
  • Farmhand

    Farmhand
Richard stayed in the working area because he was granted as a veteran. He worked for three years to clear the land and build a dwelling. But it required a condition of the grant. I chose this picture to represent Richard hard working.
  • Farming

    Farming
Lots 13 and 14, Confession 6 became Richards’s property. Later he sold his property because turning a forest into a farm is very dangerous, painstaking and back breaking work. I chose this picture because it represents a male hard working and very busy farming.
  • Time to take a stand

    Time to take a stand
Six years has passed and there is no record. The Americans got mad at the British again and invaded Canada, trying to get more land. Richard was 68 when he wrote to the authorities to 'raise a Crop of Men of Colour on the Niagara Frontier." I chose this picture because it shows an old man and it represents Richard Pierpoint as an old man.
  • Richard lived his life to the fullest

Richard lived his life to the fullest
Fighting for what’s right and for freedom Richard Pierpoint died. No one knows where he was buried. I chose this picture because it represents a very old man, who lived his life to the fullest. Also I chose the picture because it can also represent Richard as an happy old man.
