Edward Prendick boarded Lady Vain.

During this time Edward, Helmar, and a short sturdy seaman, were on a wrecked ship. After a brief scuffle, from failed plans, Helmar and the other guy, got into a scuffle and both fell overboard.

Edward was alone, on Lady Vain, after the brief scuffle took the two men away. He began to grow weak and almost lifeless. But, he was rescued by Montgomery.

That is a question Edward asked Montgomery, his rescuer, after he was saved using animal blood. After noticing the awkward length of the ship and the number animals aboard Edward was perplexed.

Edward began to live in an island with Montgomery and his partner, Dr. Moreau. While there, Edward found out animals and humans were being slaughtered and conjoined together. They were almost creating another species, maybe? Edward came across all types of human animal species and was stunned. After quite some time some of the species started to go into attack mode and things turned tragic.

One of Dr. Moreau's creation left him lifeless.

The same creatures, that led to the demise of Dr. Moreau, did the same to Montgomery.

Edward found himself alone, again, with the exceptions of the animals.

Edward was rescued by another ship. However, this time it was only the ship that rescued him because, again, he was alone. Edward made it off this island alive.
