Prim Gets Chosen
Prim( Katniss's sister) gets chosen as the girl representative for District 12 to participate in "The Hunger Games". Katniss decides to takes her sister's place . -
After the Games
Peeta and Katniss are taken back to the Training Center to be healed and rested for the upcoming interview. Haymitch then explains to Katniss that they are underwatch by the "Capitol" for nearly thwarting the games. -
Katniss Drops the Tracker-Jackers
Katniss drops the tracker jackers upon Glimmer and Cato as an act of self-defense. With the insects posoinous venom, Gimmer suffers many stings and eventually dies based on them. -
Peeta Fights Cato
Peeta manages to hold off Cato while Katniss escapes. This proves how devoted Peeta really is to Katniss, which comes into play later in the book. -
The "Bread"
Years before, we find Katniss scavenging for food, unwilling to go back to her family without something. She ends up scavenging at the bakery where after being rudely treated by Peeta's mom, Peeta shows an act of kindness by giving her a loave of burnt bread. He purposely burned the bread to be able to give her something. The bread later symbolizes the love for Katniss by Peeta later in the book. -
Rue Dying
Nearly after forming their alliance with each other, Katniss runs trying to find Rue after blowing up the campsite. Once they find each other, they find out they were ambushed, and a boy from District 1 speared Rue, killing her. Katniss mechanically immediately fired an arrow into the boy's neck killing him. -
The First Interview
During the first interview, each candidate has to demonstrate their skills/abilities to attract sponsors who will support them in the "Games". Katniss is able to score an 11/12 after becoming furious for the judges not paying attention to her, and shooting the apple in the pig of the judge's lunch. -
Blowing Up Camp
Katniss and Rue decide to team up and take out Cato's alliance supplies. Rue will light three fires attracting them, while Katniss sets off a bomb to blow up their supplies. Sadly, Katniss is rather injured after doing this, and loses hearing in her left ear. This leads up to the next event of "Rue Dying." -
Winners of "The Hunger Games"
Katniss and Peeta manage to knock Cato onto the ground into the wolves territory. After being shot at by Katniss, Cato dies and Katniss and Peeta win "The Hunger Games". -
The Final Interview
After being treated and fed after "The Hunger Games", Katniss and Peeta face the dreaded interview where they have to fake their love for each other. This will show Panem that they really were delusionally in love with each other and didn't want to be separated be killing one another.
