  • Germany attacks Russia

    They sent one of their armies towards the city of Leningrad, another towards Moscow, and also one towards the city of Stalingrad. There goal was to take control of the Soviet Union, but they didn't achieve it due to weather and resistance.
  • Japan attacks the naval fleet at Pearl Harbor

    Japan made a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, forcing the Americans to be part of World War Two.
  • Rationing program is established

    This program set up boundaries for the amount of clothing, food, and gas that individuals could purchase. These individuals were given ration stamps to buy items such as fruits, vegetables, meat, fuel, tires, etc.
  • Allied bombers attack Germany

    The bombers would fly at night, and drop drastic amounts of bombs to destroy Germany's cities. There were a few types of bombings such as saturation and strategic, saturation is known for damaging, and strategic is known for destroying the capacity of an area.
  • Japan attacks opposing countries to obtain land

    Japan made attacks on Dutch colonies, Britain, and America to obtain Burma, Guam, Wake Island, Hong Kong, Philippines, etc.
  • German General Erwin Rommel led his troops against the Americans

    He led his Afrika Korps against the Americans in Tunisia, and went through the line of America trying to obtain a supply base in Algeria. He then was stopped by the Americans, and he then backed off due to the loss of supplies.
  • Britain and America join forces

    The British and the Americans landed in the island of Sicily separate to invade them. The forces then continued to travel across the island, then eventually met up to join one another, and were known as the American-British forces
  • Wartime migration leads to racial violence

    Around 100,000 white and black individuals broke into fights at a city park in Detroit, Michigan. The next morning involved more altercations, which led to 34 deaths.
  • Germany surrenders in the Battle of Stalingrad

    German troops had to face house by house battles, block to block battles, and the buildings that had been bombed. The troops that were part of the Soviet Union then tried to trap the Germans, but Adolf Hitler didn't allow this to happen, and they then surrendered.
  • Increase in women in the American work force

    During the war, the availability of men in the work force decreased, and caused the percentage of women in the work force to increase from 25 percent to 36 percent.
