    Walt attended McKinley High School in Chicago. He took photography and art courses but then later, dropped out to join the army. Disney was rejected due to the fact that he was underage. Since he could not join the army, walt joined red cross and was sent to France to drive an ambulance for a year.

    Walt and Fred made a deal with the local kansas city theature to play their cartoons, This was a so huge that disney was able to create is own studio with the same name, "Laugh-O-Gram'. At this studio they did a series of seven minute fairy tales which they called " Alice In Cartoonland."

    Walt and his brother decided to move to Hollywood to begin their "Disney brother's Studio." They invented a character called Oswald the lucky rabbit and contracted the shorts at $1,500 each. Their first deal was with new york distributor Margaret Winkler.

    After a few years of his marriage, Walt discovered that Winkler and her husband as stolen all rights to Oswald and the animators of disney`s company. Right away the disney brothers, with the help of their wives, produced new animations based on a character Walt has been working on for some time, This character`s name was and still is , Mickey Mouse.Walt played the voice of Mickey and the show got a huge recognition. The cartoon was a sensation.

    In 1929 Disney created a series called ``Silly Symphonies.`` The short films included some of Disney`s newer characters like, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Pluto. The most popular episode was called ``Flowers and Trees.`It was the first one to be produced in colour and to win an oscar.

    The ``Snow White and the seven dwarfs`` full animation premiered in Los Angeles. It made a surprising 1.499 million despite the depression and won a total of eight oscars. In a couple of years Disney also would create popular long films like Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo and Bambi.

    In December a new Disney studios opened in Burbank. During this time (1941) the company had a setback due to the strike made by the disney animators. Many of them quit and it would take a long time for the company to recover, However, Disney was still persistant in making great films. Cinderella was released in 1950 followed by alice in wonderland (1951), Peter Pan (1953), a live-action film called Treasure Island (1950), Lady and the Tramp (1955), Sleeping Beauty (1959) and 101dalmatians (1961)

    Disney opened a $17 million theme park called ``DisneyLand.`` Disneyland was a place for children and families could visit to go on rides and meet disney characters. This theme park was so successful that Disney was able to open more all over the world. Disney had parks in okyo, Paris and Hong Kong, with a Shanghai location slated to open in December 2015.

    Disney was planning to open a theme park in Florida but unfortunately he was diagnosed with lung cancer. He died December 5 1966 and was cremated and his ashes interred at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles. After walts death his brother, Roy, carried the plans to open in Florida. The park was opened 1971 under the name Walt Disney World.
