  • Magic Lantern

    Magic Lantern
    The Magic Lantern was a very early version of the projector. Invented in 1650 by Christiaan Huygens in France, for the first time it allowed people to see images on a wall. It used pictures, a lens, and a bright light and could display moving pictures. This helped develop animation further, because it led to more advanced versions of animation tools that could display moving picture on the wall.
  • Thaumatrope

    an optical toy popular in the 19th century. It is Aadisk with a drawing on each side attached to two pieces of string. When the strings are twirled quickly the two pictures appear to blend.
    Thaumatropes are often seen as important predicesors of motion pictures, in particular of animation, because it was 1 of the first devices that appeared to show a moving picture. Even though it was actually a still picture.
  • Zoetrope

    The Zoetrope was invented in 1834 England by William Horner. It was based on Plateau's phenakistoscope, but was better. It didn't require a viewing mirror and allowed more than 1 person to use it at the same time. It has a simple drum with an open top, supported on an axis. The user puts pictures on strips of paper, Slots are cut at equal distances and it is spun to create motion.

    The Enchanted Drawing is a 1900 silent film directed by J. Stuart Blackton. It creates the illusion of a moving man's face in the frame. It contains the first animated sequences recorded on standard film, which is why he is considered the father of American animation. It is a combination of a silent film and stop motion animation. It was produced by Edison Studios.

    a 1906 short silent animated cartoon directed by James Stuart Blackton. It is a three-minute short in which Blackton creates animating drawings of faces and people against a plain blackboard. This is an example of Stop-Motion and Cutout Animation. The film moves at 20 frames per second. The Hands are included and then are taken out after life action is stopped. featues a clown, dog and more.

    a 1914 animated short film done by Winsor McCay. It is the earliest animated film to feature a dinosaur. Gertie was the most popular film of her time. It was the first to use keyframe animation. The silent film runs five minutes and live action is included with animation and text. Gertie the Dinosaur paved the way for future animation and propriertary metods of making a drawing moveand come to life.

    Steamboat Willie is a 1928 animated short film directed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. It was produced in black-and-white by Walt Disney Studios. The cartoon is considered the debut of Characters Mickey and Minnie Mouse, aSteamboat Willie was the third of Mickey's films to be produced, but was the first to be distributed.
    Steamboat Willie has in-sync sound.
  • Fantasia

    a 1940 animated film produced by Walt Disney. It is the third Disney animated feature film. The film consists of eight animated segments set to pieces of classical music. a live action scene is provided before each animated segment. This film helped further Mickey's popularity. Fantasia was ranked fifth of Top Ten Films category, 2 Academy Awards, won an Award at the NY Film Critics Circle Awards.

It was a huge risk for Walt Disney to take and ended up costing $1,488,422.74 dollars to produce the film. won an oscar & an academy award.

After two years in production Cinderella was released on February 15, 1950. It became the greatest hit for the studio since Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and helped reverse the studio's fortunes. It is considered one of the best films ever made.

    RenderMan is proprietary photorealistic 3D rendering software produced by Pixar Animation Studio. RenderMan is used by Pixar to render all of their in-house 3D animated movie productions. This was the software used to make the first full-length film with a computer, Toy Story. Now all animated movies are made with computers.

This film is still popular today and continues to be a reference point for animations made today. It is now considered by many critics to be one of the best animated films ever made.

There is also 1 sequel to Toy Story 2 and another one coming soon.

The film tells the story of a fearless princess who sets off on an epic journey to find her estranged sister, whose icy powers have inadvertently trapped the kingdom in eternal winter. Frozen is the highest grossing animated film of all time.
  • Finding Dory

    Finding Dory is a 2016 (the most recent 3D computer-animated film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and relaeased by Disney. The film is a sequel and spinoff[ of 2003's Finding Nemo. Finding Dory focuses a forgetful fish Dory, who journeys to be reunited with her parents. Along the way, she is captured and taken to an aquarium, from which Marlin and Nemo attempt to rescue her by traveling across the ocean.
