A mercury clock, a Spanish work from 1277 consisting of translations and paraphrases of Arabic works, is sometimes quoted as evidence for Muslim knowledge of a mechanical clock. The first mercury powered automata clock was invented by Ibn Khalaf al-Muradi.

Modern day clocks or newest clocks are digital clocks, digital watches, water proof watches, hand clocks, and computer clocks. Computer clocks run and are installed inside the computer. Water proof clocks have a sealant on it to protect its' electronics inside. Hand clocks are miniature versions of regular clocks so they can be carried around easier. Hand clocks however sometimes may have to be wound to the right time ever twenty-four hours.
