The Sputnik 1 was a satellite the size of a beach ball. It was made and launched by the Soviet Union. This launch was important to the history of space exploration because, it sparked the begining of the space race. -

This is important to space history because it proves that animals can survive space travel. The down side to this was that the heat shilds weren't good so Lika burned to death. -

The flying chimp, Ham, was the first animal that was related to us that made it into outer space. This is important because, since chimp's are related to humans this means we can go into space. -

This was a disaster and wasn't suposed to happen. The three men who died in this were Gus Grissom, Ed White, and Roger Chaffee. This is important to space history because, three brave men died on apollo 1 -
The Man on the Moon
The Apollo 11 was a space craft that landed on the moon. There was one difference that made it special. It contained a human being named Neil Armstrong. He became the first man on the moon. This event is important to space history because it proved that we can survive space travel. -
