    YouTube was created to have easy access to videos and clips.

    The first tweet was sent in 2006. Twitter is a micro-blogging social network that relies on short messages that have to contain only 140 characters. These short messages of Tweets are a very instant way to comment on something either happening in the world.

    Tumblr is a blog style social networking site. Tumblr is unique compared to other forms of social networking. It is avid with pictures and videos.

    Spotify was released and became a huge source for music streaming.

    Hashtags were created on twitter to group discussion topics for people to view.

    Instagram was created to share photos. Instagram is similar to Twitter, but strictly for sharing pictures and videos.

    Snapchat was created for an easy way to send pictures to friends for only 10 seconds. It is a photo and video sharing form of social media.

    Vine enables users to record there own videos that last only 6 seconds.
