    Formation of the Four Clans

    Formation of the Four Clans
In 065, there was one unified tribe, "The Unity". Everyone lived in peace. An outsider, who claimed he was from The Fiery Plains, gathered a following. This outsider, Hakoda Zuko, soon was proposing a revolt against the elders of The Unity. The Unity got word of this, and Elder Iroh Beifong personally banished Hakoda and his group from The Unity. Those who were upset with how the situation was handled then separated from The Unity, as well. The two remaining groups split for political reasons.

    Formation of Sa Kalayo
Hakoda Zuko, and his group of followers, sailed the seas to find new land upon which they could settle. After months on the sea, and after many deaths due to starvation and thirst, they arrived upon the shore of what would come to be Sa Kalayo. The first night, when all 165 of them sat down for their meal, a fire was lit, and their meals were cooked. Right then, Hakoda uttered the words "sa kalayo", their native tongue for the word "fire", and so the country would be known as Sa Kalayo.

    Invasion of Sa Yelo
Hakoda Zuko, now at the age of 56, grew worrisome. He was rather paranoid, and believed that the other tribes would come after him and his family some day. So, thinking he was protecting his wife and two children, he ordered for the Invasion of Sa Yelo. Using forged steel battleships, Hakoda, himself, sailed with his crew. When they beached on Sa Yelo in the middle of the night, they slaughtered half the kingdom, and fled. Sa Yelo declared war the next day.

    The War of the Elements

    The War of the Elements
Sa Kalayo drew first blood, and the other tribes grew angry with Hakoda for his seemingly random attack on Sa Yelo. Sa Yelo allied with Sa Tubig, it's neighboring clan from the south. Sa Tubig had a close economic relationship with Sa Yuta, so, even though Sa Yuta wanted to stay out of the war, they were drawn in defending their ally. Sa Yuta, Sa Tubig, and Sa Yelo formed the Elements, an alliance dedicated to putting out the fire that was Sa Kalayo.

    The Lightning Revolt

    The Lightning Revolt
Led by Azula Zuko, she stormed Ozai's castle and took over by force. Azula had convinced Ozai to become tyrannical for her own schemes, to make Ozai the bad guy, and her the good guy. She earned the public trust, and led a revolt to overthrow Ozai. Azula's reign was shortlived, as she made an unfit ruler. She, too, was overthrown, in the year 156.
