  • Iraqi troops invade Kuwait

    Led by Saddam Houssein, the Iraqi invasion force vastly outnumbered Kuwait's defence and led to complete occupation of the country. The unjust invasion caused international condemnation leading to immediant economic sanctions by the UN. The cause of the invasion was that Iraq owed Kuwait 14 billion dollars they had been funded during its 8 year war with Iran. Kuwait were unwilling to pardon the vast amount.

  • The UNSC passed resolution 660 condeming the invasion of Kuwait, demanding removal of all forces in Kuwait

  • - UN Resolution 678 authorizes the use of 'all means necessary' to expell the Iraqi presence in Kuwait

  • Deadline America gave Iraq to remove forces from Iraq or else face war

    America delivered an ultimatum in the late 1990s that Iraq had to remove their force from Kuwait before this date or face war.

  • US led-coalition launch Military attack

    After failed negotiations the United States led-coalition launched a massive military assault on Iraqi forces stationed in Kuwait

  • Kuwait was liberated from Iraq

    uring the occupation 1000 Kuwait civilians were killed and more that 300000 citizens fled the country.

  • - President Hussein announces the withdrawal of Iraqi troops from Kuwait
