    Henry Ford Moves to Detroit
    When Henry was sixteen, he moved to Detroit and worked as an apprentice. By the end of his apprenticeship, he knew much about how machines operate. Later he moved back to the farm to marry.
  • Ford Marries Clara Bryant

    Henry Ford married Clara Bryant in 1888. After their marriage, Ford ran a sawmill to support himself and his wife. He also spent his spare time trying to come up with a better automobile.

    When Ford was thirty, he had his first successful motor test. The motor was placed in the kitchen sink, where it whirred and buzzed to life. Ford had created his first engine to use in an automobile.

    The Model T was the most successful letter-name car made by the Ford Auto company. The Assembly Line was also incorporated to increase production speed. The Model T was low priced for the average US citizen to afford. It was the easiest to manipulate and repair model, with all of the upgrades the previous models had contained. The population of America loved the Model T. In just a few years, half of cars owned were Model Ts. 200,000 Model Ts were produced a day, and it was made for 19 years.

    Other car companies were starting to form some competition for Ford Motors, so Henry Ford recreated the Model A. This car formed more excitement than any other car made by the company.
