He is eavesdropping on his father and martial arts instructor while he hears them talking about Tendai being a coward. This event makes Tendai want to not be called a coward anymore, thus creating the plot.

The kids get kidnapped by a group of thugs. The thugs were helped by a blue monkey. How strange.

The kids Rita (the girl), kuda (the younger boy), and Tendai go off on a scout trip that the Mellower (basically a hypnotist that makes you feel good) tricks the parents into being giving the kids permission to go on the trip

The kids are taken to Dead Man's Vlei, where they are forced to work for the She Elephant and mine for her

While mining for the She Elephant, Tendai finds a ndoro, which helps him, Rita, and Kuda escape

A man with the attention span of 4 minutes comes and tries to rescue the kids.

The kids visit an African sanctuary where original African cultures are preserved.
