Tanya (page 1-12)
Micheal tries to save Tanya from committing suicide inside the VirtNet, but fails. She claws her core out (the thing that seperates her actions in the VirtNet from in reality) and jumps off of a bridge. She claimed that it was because of Kaine (another gamer) torturing her. Micheal feels terrible and drifts back into the Wake. -
VNS (Pages 22-32)
Micheal gets kidnapped by a man in all black and taken to a secret location. He is forced into an unfamiliar room by unfamiliar people. He finds out that he has been chosen to take down Kaine with his friends by the VNS and agent Weber. This could change his life, but he agrees to do it. -
Kaine (page 40-42)
Micheal and his friends were attacked by Kaine while sitting at a resturaunt in the VirtNet. He snuck up on them, paralized them and showed them disturbing images of as a form of torture. He also gave them a warning that if they even tried to take them down he would make them suffer. It really scared the three of them but they still decided to continue on their journey. -
Black and Blue (page 72-90)
As a part of their mission Micheal and his friends were told by Cutter the Barber with the gossip that they needed to find Ronika the own of a high end club called Black and Blue. The three of them managed to get into the club. They found Ronika and she was able to give them the information. They found out that they needed to enter the Path in the game Devils of Destruction to find where Kaine was hiding. They wre then attacked by Kaine's KillSims. Ronika died in the Wake. The three survived. -
Devils of Destruction (page 125-158)
Micheal and his friend did as Ronika has said and entered the game Devils of Destruction. It was a war game with brutal fighting, blood and gore. They struggled to survive long enough to find the portal, each death feeling incredibly realistic. Eventually, after days of fighting Sarah found the portal and they were able to enter the Path. -
Bryson's Death (pages 203-204
After entering the Path Micheal, Sarah, and Bryson travel through it encountering many horrors with a code that is impossible to crack. Eventually they walk through a door. Motionless people line the walls with frozen expressions. All three move slowly through, the eyes of the people following them. Bryson figures out crucial piece of information and suddenly blurts it out without finishing his sentence, leaving Sarah and Micheal wondering. The dead people spring into action and kill Bryson. -
Medenstone Sanctuary (pages 215-242)
Micheal and Sarah arrive at Medenstone Sanctuary and meet Gunner Slake a famous gamer now stuck in the Path. He gives them food and a place to sleep and tries to convince them to stop their journey and not continue. In the morning to keep them from continuing on he summons his animal friends to turn into demons and try to kill them. It takes them a long time to fight the animals off but they eventually escape. -
Sarah's Death (pages 251-256)
Micheal and Sarah enter another phase of the Path in a volcano. They climb over bolders and across bridges over lava rivers. They travel through and both nearly get hit by lava many times. Eventually Sarah does get hit by lava and dies telling Micheal to finish the mission. Micheal is left completely alone. -
Meeting Kaine, the Tangent (pages 267-300)
Micheal got his core(seperates VirtNet from reality) ripped out of his head meaning that if he died he died in real life if he chose to continue on. When he did continue on he discovered Kaine speaking to a group of Tangents about taking over human bodies. He tried to stay hidden, when VNS fighters showed up and fought the Tangents. When Micheal met Kaine, Kaine seemed to be glad that he was there because it meant his plan worked. They fought eachother and Micheal woke up. -
A Different Person in the Mirror (pages 300-310)
When Micheal drifted back into the Wake he was in a strange appartment that wasnt his. Then he looked in the mirror and saw a person he didn't recognize. Later agent Weber from the VNS showed up and told him that he was never actually a person, but a tangent (game character) that became self aware of being in a game. She also explained that Kaine was taking braindead people and putting Tangents in their bodies and that that was what he was.
