The first hockey stick was made of hornbeam wood. There is not an accurate date for the first stick. The first stick was hand carved. There was no curve on the first stick.

Years later people are trying to figure out how to improve the hockey stick. The first stick was too heavy, so they made a new one out of many layers of wood glued together for a lighter and more flexible stick.

The sticks that people where using they realized they weren't getting quality shots, so then stick where getting made with curves on the blade.

Players are getting better and want to shoot better but their sticks are heavy and some players don't like the curves. So curves where changing and they where making the sticks light.

Changing from wood to fiberglass, The sticks are now a way better material. The fiberglass allows the stick to flex for a harder shot. Also, the stick is now much lighter.

The company Bauer was getting really big it was the first skate to have the blade permitting secured to the skate. Now this company was attracting many people and became big for hockey. These sticks also where getting designed and they weren't so plain.

All of these new hockey brands where becoming huge and making all kinds of different sticks and this was good because it wasn't just one stick there was many different sizes, flex's, colors, blades. Some companies Bauer, Easton, ccm, warrior, Reebok.

The NHL was in a lockout and did not have a season for a whole year this was because players weren't getting paid enough when they have over 80 games a season. This was not benefiting hockey stick sales because the NHL didn't have a season.

players are all using different sticks and playing with the one that they like. For each stick, there are about 3-4 different types of blades, the blades are named after NHL players who use that curve.

Going to a hockey monkey store going in the stick section there are about 500 sticks more or less. Any stick you can think of. When a new popular stick comes out it is usually about $300. stick's Today is almost perfect and hockey sticks have come a long way.
