    The Australian army had been in Egypt to train because Lieutenant General William Birdwood had thought they had not had enough training. Later on at the dawn of the 25th of april 1915 the Austalians and New Zeland army corps (ANZAC) were sent to Gallipoli to push pack the Turkish army and landed Gaba tepe. Gaba tepe was later renamed as ANZAC cove and which the ANZAC's were fighting at Gaba tepe the British were at Cape Hilles.

    During this period of time the battle lines in Gallipoli were strengthened by adding more men to Gallipoli but they didn't move very far. During the 6th and 8th of May the ANZAC were involved in a very big attack at the Battle of Krithia. The Attack had failed and with a result many people died in this battle and they didn't reach the enemy trenches. On 19th of May the turkish had attacked along the ANZAC Front. The Turkish had 3000 dead soliders with many suicidal and was the last time.

    Also during this time the turkish army was making their finally attack on the ANZAC Front. During this attack made by the Turkish army had attacked which had ended up killing 3000 of their men dead and lots of them were killed in suicidal ways. After five days a temporary armistice was made so that both side could collect the dead, give them gaves to stop the diseases and infections to stop them from spreading and more people dying.

    Jim Martin left Melbourne
    Jim Martin had left melbourne to go to Egypt to do more training because the british didn't think that the Australians and New Zelanders had enough training. Jim Martin- Jim Martin was born in tocumwal, NSW on January 3rd in 1901 and his full name was James Charles (Jim) Martin. He had left school to work as a farmhand and he had enlisted in the Australian Imperial force in April 1915 and he was only 14 and 3 months and said he was 18.

    During this time neither side could win any ground from the enemy with many attempts to do so but had no success. There were attempted trench raids, snipering shots, bomb throwing and many attempts to undermine the enemies trench system. The summer had brought in many different pests both sides such as millions of flys, and with them was many different diseases. During this period the diseases that were around were the biggest killer and life at Gallipoli was very uncomfortable and unhygienic.

    Jim Martin arrives at Gallipoli
    He arrived at Gallipoli in the 1st Reinforcements of the 21st battalion and his service number 1553. On the boat HMT Southland on the way to gallipoli the ship was shot down by a torpedeo and had spent 4 hours at sea before he was rescued. Jim martin had landed with his battalion on Gallipoli on the 8th of september. He was stationed on the trench lines near Courtney's post on the ridge above Monash Valley.

    In August the leader had decided to try to attack and break the Stalemate. They planned to get british troops to come in on the north of Anzac cove and seize the area. They would then help in the main attack which was to gain higher ground between Chunuk bay and hill 971. The idea was to come in quickly so that they had the element of surpries and catch them by surpries. The Australians had rushed into a heavily guarded area and had used hand to hand fighting and 7 ictoria cross were given out.

    The Stalemate had contiued throught the harsh cold winter. During this time many diseases were still spreading and frostbite came in and spread through the troops. On September the 25th an artillery bombardment had hit along a six and a half front in four days. The British forces had launched an attack on the German positions at Loos, Belgium, beginning the battle of Loos.

    Jim Martian dies
    During his fight at Gallipoli there was many different things to get sick from such as sickness, Flies, Lice and mosquitoes. On the 25th of October he had Contracted Typhoid fever and had been evacuated to a hospital ship called the HMHS Glenart Castle. Depite the best effort of the people aboard the hospital ship Jim Martin had died later that day. He had lost half his weight and was in bad shape. Jim Martin had died of heart faliure and he was three months short of his 15th birthday.

    During December an evactuation was called but was very difficult because their was so many troops in Galipoli that they had to evacuate some people little by Little under the cover of night. Over the next three weeks in December the 40 000 people there was evactuated or withdrawn. The People there had built and automatic invention to keep firing the guns even after they had left to fool the enemy to thinking they were still there. By the 20th of December all the troops had been withdrawn.
