  • Berlin Wall Falls in Germany

    After World War Two, Germany was divided amongst the Allied forces into four sections. These sections were controlled by the United States, Great Britain, France, and the Soviet Union. The USSR shut down access to West Berlin on August 12, 1961, when soldiers laid down 30 miles of barbed wire in one night to shut down the mass migration of East Germans over to West Germany. On August 15, the beginnings of a concrete wall was assembled, and would remain until it was destroyed on November 9,1989.

  • 9/ 11 attack on the Twin Towers

    On September 11, 2001, terrorists hijacked four planes and flew two into the Twin Towers buildings in New York City. Another plane was flown into the Pentagon and a fourth plane crashed in a field after passengers attempted to retake control. This event was the largest terrorist attack in history. No one on the four planes survived and thousands died in each of the buildings hit by the planes. Hundreds of firefighters and police officers died trying to save the victims of this attack.
