The americans were the underdogs of the war, meaning, that they were the lowly group. The colonists had almost no gunpowder, no proper guns, and almost no cloth and food. However they beat back the British. This battle proved that the british is just facing way more than a mob of farmers, this showed that they were facing men who were determined to win this war once and for all.
