The Colonist's Revolution

  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    Men dressed as indians and snuck into Boston Harbor and tossed 340 chests of tea into the water, creating what they called "the worlds largest cup of tea. Leading up to these events the tax on tea angered the men and women of Massachusttes, resalting in boycotting and acts of puplic terrorism (tar and feather).
  • Boston Port Act

    Boston Port Act
    Due to the rebelling colonists of Boston, Massachusttes, the British fought back by closing down Boston Harbor and dis allowing trade between the colonies and any other states, except Great Britan. These so called "intollarable acts" were when the Britith were tired of the colonies rebellion, treating us like kids.
  • Massachusttes Government Act

    Massachusttes Government Act
    Eliminated the entire Government of Massachssettes. King George, the mentally ill king replace the kind fair governer with a cold and bitter ruler from england. This was a way to protect soldiors with unfair trials if they were to commit murder or other punishable crimes.
  • The First Continental Congress

    The First Continental Congress
    The congress was made up of delegates, such as Ben Franklin and Sameul Adams, from the 12 colonies, ecxept Georgia.
    The congress took vote to see if we would contine peaceful boycots, or start the revolution we all knew would come. Such ambassaders like, Samuel and John Adams knew the revolution would be a sacrafice, but we must have hope.

    The first battles of the American Revolutionary War faught in Lexington and Concord, Massecusettes. About 700 british soldiors were orderd to capture and kill the small patriot maltia of the soon to be United States.

    George Washinton is voted comander of the Continental army, by the American Congress, however Washington did not start his new duties untill July 3rd. of that year.

    A deadly battle taking place in the beging of the Revolutionary war, taking palce during the Seige of Boston.
  • Common Sense is Published

    Common Sense is Published
    Common Sense, first puplished anonymosly in fear of the British's reaction but was later stated that it was by Thomas Paine. The pamphlet was a Colonies book for dummies on why we should start a revolution. This book not only gave the colonies the nessacary push but was the most bought book of its time.
  • Ben Franklin seeks to find help from the French

    Ben Franklin seeks to find help from the French
    Benjamin Franklin, signs a treaty for the colonies and France, in the middle of the Revolutionary War. This document showed the French military help if the British were to attack the Patriot's fortresses. The picture shown at the left is a copy of the offical treaty.
  • Declaration of Independence Is Ratified

    Declaration of Independence Is Ratified
    The last of attempts for peace, showing King George III the colonists rules and stating all the kings abuses to the colonies. A document that said that all men are created equal. This legal document brought new hope for slaves and women, but not only was it not a legally binding doctument that was not allowed in court, in the words of Ben Franklin, "right now we need a proclomation.... not an emantipation." Meaning this isn't the right side to abolish slavery, they would loose the southerners.

    The single handed larget battle of the Revolutionary War, the Declaration of Independence followed shortly after. This was the first fight after the colonies declared themselves an independant Nation.
  • Geroge Washington, and the Battle of Trenton

    Geroge Washington, and the Battle of Trenton
    Washington leads his troops, despite horrible conditions weather wise, to an area just north of Trenton, New Jersey. Washington is most famous for crossing the Delaware River to get to the land of his enemies in the same night. By the end of the small battle, almost all the Hessian soldiors were captured.
  • America loses Fort Ticonderoga

    America loses Fort Ticonderoga
    Despite the strong attepmt of the Continental Army, the patriots lose the beloved, Fort Ticonderoga to the overpowering British forces. Fort Ticonderoga is located both in Montpeiler, Vermont and Upstate, New York. The long stretched lake that surrounds the fort is Lake Champlaign. The french also occupied this fort at one time and it was later won back by American forces.

    Due mainly to poor scouting skills of General George Washinton, we loose at the Battle of Brandywine, which took place near the Chesepeeke Bay in Northern Maryland. Seen at left is the Hessian map of the bay and the actual battle

    Gen. Bergoyne crossed the Hudsen river with eight thousand of his troops to meet with Gen. Howe and his men to defet the American army, Under the strength of the Americans the British retreated, leaving the patroits winners. A second battle was won as well as the American soldiors were lead by Benedick Arnold.

    It was an ultimate low for the Patriots. They were cold, starving, and felt like giving up. Many soldiors desrted, meaning they left before their discharge after nine months. Still, even though Vally Forge, which is 18 miles north west of Philledelphia, was freezing and the conditions were extreamly harsh, the soldiors remained strong and lasted the winter,

    The first legal consitution of the United States of America. Established that the 13 colonies were now a Nation an their own Country.
  • Elizabeth Freeman Sues Mass. for her Freedom

    Elizabeth Freeman Sues Mass. for her Freedom
    Elizabeth (Mum Bet) Freeman, who was born into slavery in 1741 and was a slave for thirty years, sued her homestate of Massechusttes in 1781. Bet and her daughter were physically and mentally abused over the years by the cruel wife of Mr. Ashley, a kind man, and was found in favor over the jury. She belived it was her right from the newly made declaration to do something about these injustices... and she was right.

    One of the most succsesful battles faught by the American Patriots and the French, lead by General George Washington. It was the last battle over land between the Patriots and the British.

    The war between Britan and the United States of America ends! and you guessed it, we have freedom, We lived the rest of our lives a free and independant nation and we are never going to be treated as abused as Great Britan treated us.
