    A battle that was one of the beginning battles of the war. It was a Confederate victory in the capital of South Carolina

    This battle was the very first battle and led to the Civil War. Also known as Battle of First Manassas, it was fought in someone's front yard in Prince William County, Virginia.
  • Battle of Antietam

    The Battle of Antietam was a battle that took place near Anteitam Creek in Maryland, where it gets its name. This battle was the bloodiest event in the U.S.'s history. Also, Anteitam was a strategical victory for the North for The Anaconda Plan to be put into action

    The Emancipation was signed January 1, 1863 and prohibited rebelling states from having slavesand freed them. Since the stateswere rebelling, they obviously didn't listen but the treaty itself has become a symbol for peace and equality.

    Freedmen's Bureau was signed by Abraham Lincoln in order to help the transition from slavery to freedom to former slaves. The Freedmen's Bureau is a federal agency that is composed of three bills: The Bureau of Refugees, Freedmens, & Abandoned Lands.

After the war ended they got more bitter and decided to kill the president, the vice president, and the secretary of state.   • Congress Passes the 13th Amendment

    Lincoln was eager to abolish slavery.The 13th Amendment was passed which abolished slavery, prohibited forced servitude, and nullified the 3/5 Compromise Act and the Fugitive Slave Act.

    The Fourteenth Amendment stated that all people born here are citizens, all citizens were granted equal protection of the laws and that if any state didn't let blacks vote, they would lose Representatives.     IN 1876, Rutherford Hayes was elected president and Hayes was responsible for withdrawing the last few federal troops in the South in 1877, ended Reconstruction, and the Republican's right for equality. Finally, the Civil Rights Movement begins in te 1950s.
