    The first states to secede were South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Lousiana, Texas. These states motivated even more calls for war with the Union.

    The battle of Pea Ridge was a Southern counter offensive. The goal was to take back control of the mississipi river. But they lost this battle as the Union held its ground thus cementing its control of the river.

    The Union forces led by General Farragut made a daring dash in the night past southern defenses so by morning they were well inside Confederate lines and easily captured the town. This led to the coompletion of the anaconda plan and capture of the mississipi.

    West Virginia secedes from the seccession and join the union. This puts doubt in the south and helps to boost northern morale

    One of the last major battles of the war the people of Petersburgh hold out till the end. But after food runs out and it becomes clear there is no choice they surrender to the north.

    Lincoln crushes every opponet by far more than a majority. This solidifies the war will not end until the south is defeated.
