  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    It addressed smuggling rum sugar into the colonies without getting a tax on it. The act said that the Colonists could not produce sugar or rum. If they wanted it they would have to buy sugar or rum it would be from England with a tax on it.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    It said that anything made of paper would now have a tax on it. They did this to help pay for the debt caused from the French and Indian War. Colonists were unhappy about this because many things they use are made of paper, books, playing cards, news papers were few items that had a tax on them.
  • The Quartering Act

    The Quartering Act
    It said that England would send over soldiers and they would fight. If they needed to stay in the colonists homes that it was law that the colonists would have to allow them.
  • The Townshend Act

    The Townshend Act
    The Townshend Act addressed smuggling in ships to the 13 colonies. The act said that the British Government had the right to tax anything imported. It made the British even more powerful over the colonists.
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act
    It says that the Colonists can only get their tea imported from England and the Colonists would be taxed on it. It was helping the East India Company because they were struggling financially. Tea was a very popular drink and almost everyone drank it so when the heard about the tax they were all mad.
  • Coercive/Intolerable Acts: Boston Port Act

    The British thought that they were losing control of the colonies. So it is basically just a reinforcement of the Quartering Act. It also says that its illegal to take or send out shipments of supplies.

    Coercive/Intolerable Acts: MA Government Act and the Administration of Justice
    They made it so and meeting involving the government the govern had to be present. The govern was on England's side and delivered news to the king. By doing this it made it so England would know what is happening and so that the states couldn't escape.

    It was passed to expand the English Empire and to make more money. It said that the French colonists can stay Catholic if the 13 colonies annex them, and they would collect more taxes. People were getting taxed without realizing it and once the found out they were all very mad.
