  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    All rums, spirits must be imported. Molasses & syrups will be taxed. They wanted to address smuggling sugar. The Sugar Act was made to reduce the French & Indian War.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    All papers like liquor licenses, legal papers, academic degrees, newspapers, exc. It was the first act that individual colonists had to pay themselves. The sugar act failed so they made this instead. The Prime Minister thought it was fair because the British had to pay a similar tax.
  • The Townshend Act

    The Townshend Act
    It stretched the power of British soldiers stationed in the British colonies to try and put an end to smuggling. Any British soldier can go into any room. cellar or house any open any crate, chest or package to look for illegal goods.
  • Boston Port Act

    Boston Port Act
    The act was passed to punish Massachusetts. They took away your right to sell merchandise overseas.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    The Quartering Act was passed so the British did not have to pay for housing our food for their troops. The act states you must provide room and board for British regulars. If you do not provide room you will be incriminated.
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act
    Tea is now the only item that is now taxed. You can only have tea that is imported with a license. The act was passed because the East India Company was in financial trouble. It was in financial trouble because people were smuggling tea.
  • MA Government Act an the Administration of Justice Act

    MA Government Act an the Administration of Justice Act
    You may not have a meeting without the government there & you may not have a trial without the governor present. They created this act because King George did not want them coming together & planning things without him knowing.
  • Quebec Act

    Quebec Act
    They were guaranteed the write to keep their Catholic faith. They also extended the land of Quebec.
