The Anglo Saxons continued

  • Anglo Saxons

Most of the Standard everyday vocabulary of English has its origin in Anglo Saxon. The basic common are mostly from this source. The language evolved into Old English. Anglo Saxon was an inflected language. That is to say it has lots of grammatical endings on words to denote their grammatical function in a sentence; endings (suffixes) on nouns to denote grammatical gender etc. Modern German still has these inflections.
