  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    After the French and Indian war, the British took control over the colonies and caused colonist to move west of the Appalachian Mountains because of the Indians. The colonists were not happy because they were banned from a lot of land.

    The sugar act was one of the three acts that collected taxes to use in the French and Indian war. The colonists were angry because the King and Parliament were taxing them without consent,
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This was an act that charged colonists for purchasing every legal document, license,newspapers, etc. The colonists were not very happy with this act because all the profit was going to the British.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    American colonies must provide housing, food, or any accommodations for British soldiers. Colonists thought there was no need for soldiers to be in the colonies.
  • Repeal of Stamp Act

    Repeal of Stamp Act
    Parliament voted to repeal the stamp act; the townshend act was issued on the same day. The colonists were happy to not pay the taxes for the Stamp Act anymore without their approval.
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
    A British Law that was passed in March by the Parliament that went along with the repeal of the Stamp Act because of the taxing. The colonist were very happy because of the victory of the law passing
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    An incident that the British army were being attacked and 5 were ended up killed. The colonists used this fight as a way to gain support from their people.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    On night American Patriots disguised as American Indians took three ships out to the Boston Harbor and dropped 342 chests of tea; Americans protested on a taxation for tea. Colonists never accepted the duty on the tea.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    Laws passed by the British Parliament to punish the colonists. This includes the Boston Tea Party and other protests. They shut down the Boston Harbor, banned town meetings, and crimes would stand trial in Britain. The colonist reacted by saying it's a violation of their constitutional rights.

    Political statements that took a position that federal Alien Sedition Acts were failing. Colonists were concerned about the acts that were being forced on them.
