    Sons of Liberty formed
    The group was formed to protect the rights of the colonies and to take the streets againbst the taxes by the British goverment. They are best known for undertaking the Boston tea party in 1773, which led to the Intolerable Acts. This led to a counter-mobolization by the patriots.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    Edward Garrick got in an arguement with a british officer private Hugh White. A crowd eventually grew around private white. The crowd was yelling ,"fire", and throwing things at them. One of the soliders got knocked down and fired so the others followed. Five civillians were killed and six were injured in the incident. A propaganda battle soon followed after thge incident.

    It was a political protest by the Sons of Liberty in the city of Boston. It was against the tax policy of the British goverment and the East India Company that controlled all the tea imported into the colonies. On December 16, 1773, after official in Boston refused to return three shiploads of taxed tea to Britian, a group of colonist boarded the ships and destroyed the tea by throwing it into Boston Harbor. It was a resistance movement againt the Tea Act.

    It was the meeting of delegates from 12 colonies excluding Georgia. They met in response to the passing of acts such as the intolerable acts. %6 members attended. The met briefly to consider options such as economic boycott.
  • Paul Rever's RIde

    Paul Rever on the night on April 18 that the were moving.towards Cambrige. He would signal on latern if by land two if by sea. Rever and Dawes were sent out to warn people and local militias in nearby towns.

    The battles of Lexington and Concord
    The battles were the first military engagments of the war. They were fought in the colony of Massachusetts. The British were given orders to capture and destroy military supplies that were hidden in Massachusetts. The first shots were fired as the sun was rising in Lexington.
  • Second Continental Congress

    It was a convention of delegates from 12 colonies (again not georgia). The met in Philidelphia Pennsylvania soon after the war began. The congress managed the colonial war effort. The same delegates that attended the first one attended the second.
  • George Washington named Commander in Chief

    Washington appeared at the second continental congress in military uniform signaling he was ready for war. He was in charge of training his army. He lost many of his battles but never surrendered the war.
  • The battle of Bunker Hill

    The battle took place during the siege of Boston on and around Breed's Hill. The Colonies had 1200 troops in the battlke.The British wonb the battle but suffered heavy losses. 800 were wounded and 226 were killed.
  • The Virginia Declaration of Rights

    It was adocument drafted to inherent rights of men. It influenced a large number of later documents.It included the right to rebel against inadequate goverment.
  • Constitution of Virginia

    \It was a document that defines and limitsof the powers of the state goverment. It also defined the basic rights of the citizens of the US. Virginia was the first state to adopt a state constitution.It was supreme over Virginia's laws and acts.
  • Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration Of Independence announced that the thirteen colonies regarded themselves as independent staes and no longer a part of the British Empire. They ow formed a new country the United States of America. The National birthday or Independence day is celebrated on July $ but John Adams wanted it on July 2.
  • Washington crosses the Delaware

    Washington crosses the Delaware and captures Trenton from Hessian forces at Trenton. It was the first move in the suprise attack i the Battle of Trenton. They defeated the Hessian troops.
  • French Alliance

    It was a defensive alliance between the French and the US during the war. It promised millitary support in case of attack by British forces indefinitly into the future. It would remain in effect until !800. Despite being annuled by the United States Congress in 1798.
  • Artical odf Confederaton

    It established the United States as a confederation. The document served as the first constitution of the United States. It was drafted by the First Continental COngress begining in mid 1776. It was ratified in 1777.
  • Treaty of Paris

    A treaty between the United States and Great Britain that ended the war. The treaty had 10 key points that established such things as borders, debts, and prisoners of war released. Peace negotiations began April 1782.
  • US Constitution signed

    The Constitution is the supreme law of the land. It was signed by the Constitutional Convention in Philidelphia, Pensylvania. The first three articles stated the three branches of the federal goverment. The last four articles frame the principals of fedralism.
