    Invasion of Cambodia
    The invasion of Cambodia last from April 29th to the 22nd of July. It was General Creighton W. Abrams that recommended this to President Richard M. Nixon after his inauguration. Then on March 18th came the bombing of Combodia, they had 3,000 sorties fly out and 108,000 tons of ordinance to be dropped on eastern Cambodia.
  • Kent State Shootings

    Kent State Shootings
    The location of this tradegy occured and Kent State University in Ohio, it involved the shooting fo unarmed college students. This caused four students to die, and nine to be wounded. This event showed the division in the United States from the Vietnam War.

    The Godfather hit the box office at 268 million dollars, This new generation of a film suprised people, and the people wanted more to watch. This film was based off of a novel that was also named The Godfather.

    This was a Political scandal that caused alot of tension in America.This scandal caused Nixon to resign from his Presidental spot. The break-in was located at the Democratic National Committee headquarters.

    Mark Spitz's was one of the most famous olympic swimmers in history. The only man that could beat his record was Michael Phelps Spitz's was one of the five olympians that got nine or more career gold medals.

    The first case of the Roe v. Wade case was on December 13th on 1971. Then the second court hearing was on October 11th of 1972. Then the decision was made on January 22nd of 1973.This case was about young women having the right to being able to have an abortion or not.

    Some American soldiers were confused on what they were fighting for, they said that they werent fighting for home.. So what else would they be fighting for? The USA finally gave up, they cracked. The USA felt isolated and under so much pressure from all the mistakes that happened over the time period of the war.

    Egypt Syria with the approval of the Arabian countries, launched a suprise attack on Israel. Then America went to the rescue since Israel was very over powerd by these countries. The US loaded Israel with more amo and weapons. Then the Arabian countries punished the US by not sending them oil anymore.

    Heiress Patty Hearst is kidnapped
    When patty Hearst was kidnapped she was only 19 and was kidnapped from her Berkeley Apartment. Patty wasnt the only one who lived in that apartment, she lived with her fiance also, but her fiance was the right hand man on the SLA (Symbionese Liberation Army) which was the group that was convicted of kidnapping Hearst then tried to switch her out with a jail member that was apart of the SLA.

    Nixon's impeachment was caused by the Watergater incident. To make it worse, one of the most revealing tapes, revealed that Nixon wanted to try and prevent the investigation. Then Nixon confessed to the truth, and then was told he was facing impeachment.

    Gerald Ford was first the Vice President to Richard Nixon due to Nixon's resignment. Gerald was the first Vice President appointed because of the 25th amendment. He served from August 9th 1974 to December 20th 1977.

    Due to his impeachment and stress that Nixon was under, he then resigned. That then left Geral Ford to be the President of the United States.Which Nixon gave a speech that mentioned that the USA should respect and honor their new president. Nixon's speech was delieverd on the tv, and radio live.

    This was classified as "The Fall of Saigon". The South falls to the North. Which also included America, America was on the North side. This even marked the end of the Vietnam war.

    The Bicentennial celebration was celebrations throughout the 70's that paid special attention to special historical events. The celebration came to be on Independence day, and it was on the Sunday including the 200th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

    Commodore PET is released on retail sale
    The Commodore had a little competition, but thats how it ended up becoming so advance, well advance for back then. Commodores became the new thing, it included cassette tape recorders and a screen and keyboard.
  • Jimmy Carter becomes President

    Jimmy Carter becomes President
    Jimmy Carter served from January 20th 1977- January 20 1981.
    Carter ended up winning the Nobel Prize after leaving office. That is very uncommon for a president to win a Nobel Prize after they leave office. Carter also served as a Naval officer and also was a Peanut farmer.

    Roots was a miniseries, that only had 8 episodes to it, but it was then followed by Roots: The Next Generation. This show earned 37 Emm Award nominations and they ended up coming home with nine awards. The series of Roots was produced with a budget of 6.6 million dollars.

    The Draft Evaders were people who were big on protesting and some would flee the country to try and avoid the draft. This Drafting issue also included many of the baby boomers who were in college and some graduate students. They also came into protesting about the war.

    The Iran Hostage Crisis lasted from November 4, 1979 – January 20, 1981 which was 1 year, 2 months, 2 weeks and 2 days. Iran held on to 52 Americans after Iran students took over the American Embassy in Tehran.
