    Congress passed the Fordney-McCumber Tariff. This rose tariff duties to protect the market for American manufactures. The tariff boosts the domestic economy. On the other hand it made the crisis for struggling European economies like Germany's worse. By doing so, it helped to enable Adolf Hitler's rise to power there.

    Tennessee schoolteacher John Scopes is arrested for teaching evolution, in violation of new state law banning the teaching of Darwin. Scopes is eventually found guilty. This shows that people are sort of leaning away from religion and leaning more towards science.

    Forty thousand Ku Klux Klansmen march on Washington. This filled Pennsylvania Avenue. The KKK was a response to the south losing the civil war. Demographic, social, and economic changes lead to the popularity of this group.
