  • Goliad Massacre

    Goliad Massacre

    General Houston ordered coloniel Janmes Fannin to evacuate troops. When Fannin ordered a retreat, General Jose de Urreas promise was that they would be treated as prisoners of war. They would eventually be released. Santa Anna ordered Genreal Wrrea to execute all Texas prisoners.

    Fredonian Rebellion

    When Haden Edwards arrived to Nacodoches with Anglo settlers, he found establishes settlers already living there. When he threatend to sell settlers land if they couldn't provide a land title, the settlers told the Mexican government which got his land canceled. Edward declared the area Fredonian Republic, and took over Old Stone Fort.

    This law included:
    1. No immigration from the U.S.
    2. terminate all Anglo empresario contacts
    3. outlawed bringing slaves to Texas
    4. increased taxes
    5. established military posts in Texas.
  • Meir y Teran Report

    Meir y Teran Report

    The Mx government sent General Manuel Meir y Teran Report to report conditions in Texas. They observed that Mexican influence decreased northward, Anglo settlers outnumbered Tejanos 10 to 1, and differences in language culture brought tension to colonists and Mexicans. When he reached Nacodoches, he wrote an urgent letter to the president saying that settlers in Texas were about to rebel against Mx.
  • Turtle Bayou Resolutions

    Turtle Bayou Resolutions

    American Juan Bradburn was sent to Anahuac to enforce the law. He unfairly imprisoned William B. Travis others for undermining his authority. Texans fled the fighting to an area known as Turtle Bayou and drafted Resolutions. It included their opposition, Santa Anna, and the pledge to honor the constitution of 1824.

    The Conventions of 1832 and 1833 were a series of meetings where Texian colonists petitioned the Mexican government for reforms, including separating Texas from Coahuila and modifying immigration laws. The convention of 1832 took place from October 1-6, 1832, and the Convention of 1833 began on April 1, 1833.

    Arrest of Stephen F. Austin

    Stephen F. Austin was arrested in January 1834 for treason after writing a letter urging Texans to form a separate state government without Mexican consent. He had gone to Mexico City to advocate for Texas's statehood and was imprisoned in Mexico City for about a year.
