The inaugural AFL-NFL Championship Game, the first showdown between the two professional leagues since they agreed to merge pitted the Green Bay Packers – coached by Vince Lombardi and quarterbacked by Bart Starr – and the Kansas City Chiefs. It was played on January 15, 1967 in front of a star-studded Hollywood crowd at the Los Angeles Coliseum and in front of a TV audience of 65 million.
