Ten Important Events In American History

  • The Mayflower

    The Mayflower voyage is one of the most important event in all of American history. It was the first successful western civiliation. It led others to sail the oceans to create their own colonies. The colonies would eventually form the first thirteen states. America, and the rest of the western world would grow from there on.
  • The Revolutionary War

    The oolonies that were formed, and now owned by Great Britain, decided that they want their own independence. Small rebellions were the sparks that led to the fires of war. For seven years, the colonists fought their homeland, and eventually it ended in a victory for the oolonists. The oolonists now were able to call themselves a free nation.
  • The Civil War

    The bloodiest war in American history fought by brothers. The Civil War separated the North and the South by ideals and views. Whoever won the war, would have their's viewed and respected. It finally settled the century long dispute about slavery in the eyes of the law. The fight for Afric an American's equal rights however would span another century.
  • Lincoln's Assassination

    Lincoln's untimely death proved how vulnerable America's leading figures actually are. After his death, security agencies were created, and safety measures have been raising ever since. It set the bar for many oountries to protect their leaders with sercurity services. It would be the first of many events that shaped America with unlikely deaths
  • The Statue of Liberty

    The French decided after being helped throuh many wars, they would build a large statue for us. They bean construction on a large lady, bearing a tablet, and a torch. It was meant as a symbol of freedom, and later the weloming symbol to the millions of immirgrants who ame over in the next fifty years after. It also showed the relationship America could have between foreign countries.
  • The Great Depression

    When the stock market crashed, it meant 25% of the country would be out of work. Thousands would be getting dinner from a soup kitchen every night. It would take a World War to pull America out of its depression.
  • Pearl Harbor

    It was an unexpected attack on our naval base at Hawaii. It pushed us into a war we wanted no part of. Many innocent men died trying to defend themselves and their ships. Just another event that would affect the future of our oountry.
  • World War II

    The day after Pearl Harbor, F.D.R. officially announced America's involvement in the war. With the British, and the Soviet Union, they we able to stop Hitler and the Japanese from taking control of the world. It also would pull America out of the depression it was in, by creating more jobs to help the war effort.
  • JFK's Assassination

    While in Dallas, waving to the citizens. John F. Kennedy was shot down in his vehicle. It once again proved that even after a century of heightened security, it wasn't enough to keep him from being shot. The assassination led to many conspiracies which still entertain us today.
  • 9/11

    After sixty years, Osama Bin Laden was able to orchestrate a terrorist attack large enough to outweigh Pearl Harbor. This attack led America into the longest war in its history which is still being fought to this day. The affects of this will probably be felt for another fifty years.
