TR the Rough Rider at San Juan Hill
Teddy Roosevelt, before his presidency, served in the military and served while there was a war going on with spain. The Rough Riders were a team of cowboys and college men led by Roosevelt under the command of Leonard wood. On July 1st 1898 TR and the rough riders would participate in the battle of San Juan Hill and TR's position in this battle would earn him significant political influence. -
TR 1st time named president
Teddy Roosevelt was first named president on September 14th, 1901. This was significant because he became president after the assassination of former president William McKinley and was the youngest person to become president of the United States. -

Wins first full term as president
Teddy Roosevelt won the presidential election of 1904 against democrat Alton B. Parker, this would be the first time in American history where a president not originally elected into office would retain his presidency. -
Yosemite under Federal Control

From 1909-1910 Teddy Roosevelt went on an African expedition for the sole purpose of collecting specimens for the new at the time National Museum of Natural History. The expedition collected around 11,400 animal specimens. -

Teddy Roosevelt ran for presidency in 1912 under a progressive party popularly named the "bull moose party" This party would push for many social reforms such as reduction of tariffs, woman suffrage and the direct election of senators.
