In 1906, people were getting sick due to poor food preparation. This act was passed so that companies had to have "food inspections" to make sure the food was clean and in the end, safe to eat. On June 30th, 1906 the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was created.

In 1909, Taft is inaugurated when Roosevelt leaves his presidency. Roosevelt, being the conservationist he is, heads out for Mambasa to collect plants and animals for the Smithsonian Institution. Teddy and his son, Kermit, had shot and killed 512 animals (17 lions, 11 elephants, 20 rhinos, etc.)
