During the battle at San Juan Hill series of charges up San Juan on his horse. He rode up and down and even killed a few enemy soldiers while regiments fought right alongside him. His regiment though were called the Roosevelt Rough Riders

Coal Strike

The coal strike of 1902 was led by mine Workers of America in the coalfields of eastern Pennsylvania. They obviously wanted more representation, better wages, safer working conditions and etc. This strike created a huge shortage of coal to major cities. This strike went on from May 12, 1902 to October 23, 1902

National Reclamation Act

The National Reclamation Act funded irrigation projects in 20 western states. The act required that water users repay construction costs to help fund these projects.

Elkins Act

The Elkins Act prohibited rebates are given from railroad companies to other businesses. This act created heavy funds on rail road companies or businesses that accepted these rebates.

Yosemite

May 15, 1903

Teddy Roosevelt put more federal protection on Yosemite Park. This led to the protection to hundreds of different types of wildlife.

Northern Securities Case

Feb 3, 1904

Teddy Roosevelt filed a suit against the Northern Securities due to them breaking the Sherman Antitrust Act.

1904 Election

Teddy Roosevelt marked the first time that a president not elected to the office succeeded in retaining the presidency.

As a president, you could say he was for the people. Teddy was a respectable president since he promised fairness for the common man. He created stricter regulations for drugs, railroads, and food. He still remains the youngest president to assume the presidency as well.

Pure Food and Drug Act

This act prohibited the misguiding or misbranding of food and drugs. This led to being the foundation of morale for the FDA. This act was created to protect people and ensure safer methods of processing for handling drugs and food.

Meat Inspection Act

The meat inspection act created stricter regulations for meat production and marketing. This act prohibited misbranding and poor marketing tactics to ensure safer meat consumption.

Africa Trip

Apr 21, 1909

Smithsonian and Theodore Roosevelt teamed up to go to Africa on an expedition. The purpose was to collect new specimens for their new history museum. An expedition led to over 1000 specimens being collected, 500 being big game.

Bull Moose Party

Teddy ran for the Bull Moose PArty which was considered a progressive party. They had ideas like tariff reductions, women suffrage, direct election for the U.S. Senators, etc.
