He created the theory of tectonic plates, providing a mathematical model for convection in the mantle explaining the movement of the Earth's crust. -
Arthur Holmes
He performed the first uranium-lead radiometric dating (designed to measure the age of a rock). His theory was also part of the 'Continental Drift'. He thought that the drift was because of the thermal expansion in the Earth's mantle. -
