Dial Up Internet
Dial up internet is what I grew up with for years. It's where my sister and I could play games, our mom checked her email, and some research for school assignments was completed. The one computer was housed in the kitchen for everyone to use. -
Laptop Computer
Laptop computers were not a "new thing" but they were not widely affordable for most people. My family got a laptop computer for my sister and I to share while there was still a desktop computer to also use. -
Cell Phone
Cell phones were not around when I was younger. We had a landline in the house and then I remember bag phones in vehicles. A few years later, flip phones were common for making phone calls, and then slide phones came out later to make texting easier. -
Smart Phone
Smart phones have changed how everyone views the world. Everything is at everyone's fingertips. You can call, text, email, pay bills, and translate languages all from a small device. -
Electronic Books
A big technological advancement for education is electronic books and textbooks. Having any book readily available at your fingertips instead of having to either wait for it to arrive by mail or drive somewhere to pick it up has made things much easier and more convenient. Electronic textbooks are also much more affordable than standard copy ones.
