  • Yamsee War Begins

    Carolina fights against their trading partners, the Yamasee Indians.
  • George Washington is born

    War hero and first U.S. President, George Washington is born.
  • Walking Purchase of 1737

    A purchase of land by colonial leaders in Pennsylvania that swindled the Delaware Indians out of a lot of land. The purchase was settled on the rules that whatever distance a person could walk in the territory in a day and a half would be the amount sold. Said leaders sent the fastest walkers in the colonies on a cleared path to ensure the greatest amount of land was secured.
  • French and Indian War Begins

    War between the English and her colonies against the French and the Indians begins. (Seven Year's War)
  • Battle of Fort Necessity

    Washington's first battle and loss in war.
  • Treaty of Paris, 1763

    This treaty ended the French and Indian War. (Yes, this is the name of a later treaty that also ended the American Revolutionary War, too.)
  • Stamp Act

    Widely hated tax on paper. One of the acts that led to the American Revolutionary War.
  • Declaration of Independence

    American colonists signed this important document declaring independence from the British Empire.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Important victory for the Americans in the Revolutionary War.
    Some historians consider it to be one of the most important battles.
  • Cotton Gin

    Eli Whitney creates the incredibly important cotton gin, which revolutionized the cotton industry.
