  • Global Positioning System

    Although GPS was invented in 1997, it was never made public, and the military scrambled the device's location blocking accurate locations. In 2000, Bill Clinton announced that the public would have ungraded access to GPS equal to the military. Opening up a world of inventions that we now see today on our phones, in our cars, and essentially eliminating paper maps altogether by changing the way we navigate.

    iPod
    Even though portable MP3 players were around since the 1990's, Steve jobs and his team improved upon the idea, launching a new wave of portable media players. With the release of the iPod in 2001, Media devices and phones continue to compress in size and increase in quality.
  • Bluetooth Stereo Headphones

    Bluetooth Stereo Headphones
    The very first Bluetooth headphones were released in 1999, but the advancement of GPS, paved the way for more Bluetooth accessories such as stereo headphones that connect to a mobile device, computer mice and keyboards, as well as other computer accessories.

    With the invention of the WWW came birth to such influential sites such as Youtube. Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim all came from PayPal to create the digital sharing platform that is widely used today after the acquisition by Google.
  • Netflix Streaming

    Netflix Streaming
    Netflix was a popular DVD rental service, starting with mail order DVD rentals. Popular chains such as Blockbuster followed the popularity, but ultimately fell short when Netflix unveiled online streaming. This changed the game for movie rentals and almost entirely eliminated DVD rental stores around the world.
