    Simony is where the church sold potions in the church. People nowadays have to work their way up in the church. When people could just buy their positions, they didn't even have to know anything about God they just had to have money.

    Daily Life- Education
    Education was focused on reading, writing, math, and religion. Education was for rich boys sometimes really talented poor boys, but no girls. Boys were either sent to small schools or got a tutor. When the boys got older they would go onto college, but would also be expected to get a job.

    Daily Life- Food
    Peasants- Mush or soup made from leftovers, black bread. Had very little meat ever.
    Merchants & Nobles- Huge feasts that consisted of large animals and soup. Feathers from the cooked animal used for decor. Even had desserts, called "fruit course" made of jelly, cheeses, and nuts.
    The majority of people ate with their hands, silverware was uncommon.

    Medieval tactics were finally ruled out as a cure for illnesses and health issues. Treatments were upgrading. Less amputations and less painful procedures. People were now just starting to realizes the procedures of the human brain.

    During the renaissances Europeans traveled to many new countries. A few of them being Africa, Asia, America, and Oceania. People traveling to different places caused people to know more about the world and new homelands were found. People also started to trade with different countries.

    Daily Life- Fashion
    Men- tights with a shirt and coat over top, and usually a hat. Hair styles varied and so did facial hair.
    Women- Long poofy dresses with long sleeves and jewelry. Hair styles varied, but blonde hair was what women wanted. Also wanted to have light skin
    What someone wore would show their wealth. Most people only showerd 2-3 times a year. Some towns had laws against peasants buying nobility clothing. Also depending on where you lived some wear allowed to wear fur.

    The Medici family was the owners of their bank called the Medici Bank. The Medici's were very wealthy, and had a huge roll in art by then. Lorenzo de' Medici was known as "the greatest patron of literature and art that any prince has ever been." The Medici's commissioned a lot of art work worth a large value.

    Leonardo painted the last supper. The last supper was where Jesus told his disciples that he would be leaving them and going back to Heaven. The last supper was a meal where the mean celebrated. They had a feast and wine.

    This painting is of the Virgin Mary holding a child. This painting is currently in Pitti Palace in Florence, Italy. Some people think the black background was added. People think this because in all of Raphael's other paintings of Virgins had a landscape background. This painting is obviously famous because it was painted by Raphael and because the Virgin Mary is in the painting.

    Machiavelli didn't have a job, was tortured, and couldn't afford to live in Florence anymore. Him and a friend started a correspondence which is where the book The Prince came from. Machiavelli was hooked on politics, and couldn't let them go so a solution was The Prince.

    The Catholic Church- Indulgences
    Indulgences is a paper that states that you or the person of your choice will have less time in purgatory. The church made a lot of money off of helpless people wanting to free their loved ones souls. The Church didn't have the power to sell indulgences because they said it was in the bible but it wasn't. Because not many people could read the bible, no one knew that God didn't tell the Church to sell indulgences.

    Martin Luther's view on Indulgences
    Martin thought Indulgences was a waste of money for people to buy. He criticized the church for selling these because how could the church have the power to say that God himself told them to sell these and that it's in his teachings. People believed the church, well because it's the church and the large majority of the people didn't read the bible. People slowly stopped buying indulgences after Luther started his teachings.

    Martin Luther- 95 theses
    Martin Luther made a list of things he thinks is wrong with the church. After Martin made the list he nailed it to the door of the church. People saw the list and then used the printing press so they could send the list to people all over. This was the fuel that started the fire of Luther's teachings.

    The church said you could go to salvation through your knowledge and the Sacraments. Luther totally disagreed with this idea. Luther thought the only way to make it to salvation was through the relationship one has with Christ. People then also started to question the path to Salvation.

    The inventor of the microscope in the renaissance was Zaccharias Janssen. He found out that by putting lens in a small tube and looking through it, objects would appear very small. This was something that no ordinary magnifying glass could do. Through time microscopes have changed dramatically, the microscopes today can even see bacteria.

    Galileo made his first telescope and started making observations. Galileo figured out that the sun didn't rotate the earth but instead the earth rotated the sun. After Galileo discoverd this he couldn't tell many people because the King would get mad. Because according to the Kings/his religion the earth was the center of God's universe.

    Invention of the Parachute
    The inventor of the parachute was Leonardo de Vinci. The Chinese had invented parachute for toys but never for a human. Leonardo design idea was a wooden triangular frame with cloth over top of it. His design got many different comments, most people didn't know if it could hold the weight of a person. Leonardo's invention wasn't tested until 2000, where it was said to be a smoother ride than a normal parachute. The parachute came in handy in war.
