    French and Indian War

    The French and Indian war was fought between the French and the British over land. The Indians were allies of the French and helped them fight the war in the colonies.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    The Proclamation of 1763 was issues in the colonies after the French and Indian War, which stopped colonist from moving west of the Appalachian Mountains.
  • Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act were taxes imposed in the colonies by the British, which taxed sugar, and molasses.

    The Stamp Act were taxes imposed on the colonies by the British, which imposed taxes on stamps, legal documents, newspapers, pamphlets, and advertisements.

    The Quartering Act were passed in the colonies, which forced the colonist to shelter and feed soldiers stationed in the colonies.

    The Townshend Acts were taxes imposed on tea,glass,paper, paint and lead imposed by the British for the colonies
  • Boston Massacre

    A group of colonist who resented the British troops threw snowballs at troops in the colonies who later fired killing 5 colonist.
  • Committees of Correspondence

    A committee in the colonies which called for a representative from each colony to discuss anti-British plans due to the unfavorable taxes imposed.

    The Tea Act were taxes imposed on tea by the British to benefit the monopoly of tea held by the East India Company
  • Boston Tea Party

    A group of colonist who went by the name of The Son's of Liberty, dumped 342 chests of British tea into the harbor. Some colonist applaud the action as a patriot act, but others opposed it believing it it got taken too far.
  • Intolerable Acts

    The news of the Boston Tea Party angered British officials, being the reason for the passing of the Intolerable Acts. They were four laws passed in the colonies, one closing the port of Boston, reducing the legislative power in Massachusetts, court trial in Britain and the expansion of the Quartering Act.

    First Continental Congress

    All colonies with the exception of Georgia, met together in Philadelphia to discuss colonial resistance against Britain early in the Revolution.
  • Lexington and Concord

    The first battles fought by colonial America and Britain which began the American Revolution. The beginning plan was for the British to seize military supplies in bot places.
