    The fast-food restaurant was sued by an Alabama law firm Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles.The law firm states that the meat contains just 35% beef, with the remaining 65% containing water, wheat oats, soy lecithin, maltodrextrin, anti-dusting agent and modified corn starch.

    Greg Creel Defends Taco BellGreg Creed, CEO, released a statement defending his company.He stated that "Our beef is 100% USDA inspected and we simmer it in our unique recipe."In his public announcement, he provided the public with the break-down of the beef: 88% beef, 3% water, 4% spices, 5% oats, yeast and other ingredients.

    Taco Bell put a full-page ad in the New York Times. The ad says, in huge letters, "Thank you for suing us. Here's the truth about our seasoned beef." The ad also lists the meat's ingredients and stated that Taco Bell "made no changes to our product or ingredients.. and no changes to our advertising”. It is estimated that Taco Bell spend more than $100,000 on the ad.

    Attorney Dee Miles defends her case against Taco Bell by stating, "We are asking that they stop saying that they are selling beef," Miles said. Tanya Zuckerbrot, registered dietician helps Miles' case by that “Rather than Taco Bell calling the meat ‘seasoned ground beef’ they should refer to it as ‘mixed meat’ and list the additional ingredients so consumers can know what they are putting into their mouths. “She said that the fillers could be a danger for some consumers.

    In 2011, Taco Bell was faced with a lawsuit stating that their beef is not FDA certified and that the beef they serve to customers is only 35% real beef.The Alabama law firm sued Taco Bell for misinforming its customers about the ingredients in the beef.According to the law firm, "The meat mixture sold by Taco Bell restaurants contains binders and extenders and does not meet the minimum requirements set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to be labeled as 'beef'."
